My name is Matt Porter, designer for Karen+Alistair. I graduated from UNT with my B.A. in Fashion Design, with a minor in Marketing; I soon intend to pursue a Masters in Fashion Studies from Parsons. Karen and Alistair are the names given to my first two dress forms, and have literally been my partners in the world of fashion, and have thus embodied what I want my brand to be. Karen+Alistair is the foundation of my future endeavors to be a custom, luxury menswear designer, and stylist, hopefully based out of New York or London. My self-proclaimed design style is “modern classic” which attempts to pay homage to classic technique and historical costume with a refined overtone. My passion is menswear design, and tailoring, which is not to say the opulence of women's couture is off the table. Notable design inspirations for me include Charles James, Christian Dior, Stephanne Rolland, Zuhair Murad and Alexander McQueen.
